Sixteen-year-old Jodie Robinson persevered and hung tough through several restarts to claim her first career Sprint Car Challenge Tour victory at Merced Speedway on Saturday. Robinson topped a 34-car field during the inaugural SCCT appearance at the track. She also piloted the Moxie Mechanical 97 to a win in the nights High Sierra Industries Dash. Justyn Cox brought home a fine runner up finish in the feature with Kyle Hirst in third. With the podium effort Hirst has also retaken the tour point lead with two races remaining. DJ Netto put together a solid night in the C&M Motorsports 7c to finish fourth after battling for the lead at one point. Netto had taken the lead on a couple restarts, only to have cautions negate the pass. Kaleb Montgomery earned a career best SCCT finish by rounding out the top-five. The top-10 was completed by Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award winner Sean Becker, Hollister’s Ryan Bernal, Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto, Coalinga’s Tucker Worth and Tracy’s Kyle Offill. The Sprint Car Challenge Tour will now have an extended break before resuming action at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford on October 12.
